Diplexer Preamplifier FAM-258EL Passes CS116 Testing Requirements

Metropole Products, Inc. (MPI) is home to expert engineers who develop sophisticated communications components that empower communication around the world. At MPI, our determination to maintain the highest quality standards in our design, manufacturing and assembly represents who we are and what we stand for.

The MPI Model FAM-258EL, Antenna Diplexer/Preamplifier, recently underwent CS116 testing and successfully passed all of the requirements.

The FAM-258EL is a UHF SATCOM Diplexer and Preamplifier, which includes a separate Diplexer Receive Channel Output and Preamplifier Input to allow the inclusion of an external RF Limiter. The purpose of CS116 testing is to ensure the FAM-258EL’s ability to withstand conducted susceptibility of high level pulsed RF power. The specific testing included RF pulses exceeding 300 volts, within the receive channel passband.

The pulse test includes current injection on the power (J4), transmit (J2 over shield), and LNA out (J3 over shield) ports and voltage injection on the Antenna (J1) port (center to shield). While the former is similar to CS116/DO-160 CH 22 and other MIL-STD testing, the latter is a special threat test requirement.

For more than 40 years, our expert engineers have helped both government and industry to reach farther, connect more clearly and share information more efficiently. We offer a broad spectrum of specialized products along with the proven expertise to design and manufacture customized solutions to meet the most demanding mission requirements.

Metropole Products Supplies TESS Project with Diplexer FMA-264 GL

Metropole Products Inc. (MPI), an industry-leading innovator of SATCOM products, provides NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) Project with their FMA-264 GL Diplexer.

The FMA-264 GL diplexer was developed by Metropole Products, Inc. to operate in the S-band system of NASA networks. The diplexer features low insertion loss, high channel isolation, high input power and lightweight rugged construction.

The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) Project, designed to search for the brightest presences in outer space, will use the FMA-264 GL diplexer to help identify unknown exoplanets. These planets orbit stars other than the Sun and are usually difficult to locate. Using the transit method, TESS can identify the planets based on the brightness of the star. By recording the sequence of over 500,000 stars, transiting exoplanets can now be determined.

In 2014, TESS was implemented on an official two year NASA explorer mission. The goal of the mission is to expose, analyze and characterize more than 3000 transiting exoplanets. Examining these exoplanets plays an essential role in finding other earth-like planets and furthering our knowledge of space and existence.

For more than 40 years, MPI’s expert engineers have developed sophisticated communications components that enable both science and industry to reach farther, connect more clearly and share information more efficiently. By creating and designing the most innovative RF and microwave technologies, MPI is dedicated to empowering communications across the globe.

Bidirectional Amplifier (FAM-142A) to Undergo JITC Testing

Metropole Products, Inc. (MPI) designs solutions that empower communications around the world and beyond. These solutions are created with the purpose to both protect and help connect our nation. Metropole devices are built with the most advanced technologies and the highest quality materials.

The award-winning leader in microwave and radio frequency communication innovation will undergo JITC testing on their Bidirectional Amplifier (FAM-142A) this month. JITC, or the Joint Interoperability Test Command, conducts national security systems testing as well as information technology systems testing on hardware, software, and components.

The importance of such interoperability testing revolves around ensuring that a specific system of units, in this case bidirectional amplifiers, are able to provide and effectively exchange data with intended devices to the degree that all may operate together successfully. Moreover, in terms of the exchange of technical information, this testing is critical for the overall effectiveness of that information exchange for the success in completing a particular mission from beginning to end.

JITC has a unique and highly sophisticated range of equipment whereby it performs its top-of-the-line systems testing. JITC facilities are located in Fort Huachuca, AZ and Indian Head, MD, and can interface all on-site capabilities and network with any other testing or operational facility in the world.
